My wife and I have built three homes previously. As anyone who has built before knows full well, it is always a bit of a journey !
Most recently we embarked on our first duplex development - so an extra degree of complexity was involved. We are so fortunate to have engaged Grant as our builder. From the very first meeting to the final handover, Grant has been exceptionally polite, professional and a pleasure to work with. The quality of the build is exceptional and all of the tradies we met during the process were of similar nature to Grant - really nice, polite, respectful and professional, with a "can-do" attitude. Firstly, we’d like to start by saying a huge thank you to Grant and his phenomenal team on building our dream home. Not only did you exceed all of our expectations but now we couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!
We have always wanted to build a home and as this was our very first build there was a little trepidation in deciding who to partner with. We really wanted to find a builder who we could trust, that had local knowledge and loved the location and design as much as we did. We engaged an incredibly talented designer and we asked him which builders he would recommend to bring the design to life. Without hesitation he provided a glowing endorsement of Grant.
We decided to meet with Grant onsite and were both shocked at how approachable, professional and engaging Grant was. He asked us questions and really listened to the answers. After the meeting, my wife and I looked at each other and both said ‘yep, he’s our guy.’
Now to be brutally honest, there were some challenges along the way. Mother nature decided to meet us with a third consecutive la Nina right at the time of the site cut and foundations. We also decided to build in a difficult time for the building industry in terms of cost and availability of supply. Despite all of these challenges Grant was engaged and proactively communicated with us regularly, so we weren’t left guessing. He put our minds at ease and expertly coordinated with our designer and certifier as one unified team. No question was ever too big or small and Grants approach put us completely at ease. So many people told us about the stressful experience of building a house but our experience was so very different.
We are so grateful for our stunning home that has been so expertly crafted. The attention to detail, thought and care that has gone into it is evident and it continues to take our breath away. All that is left is to enjoy our home as a family. Would we ever build again? Sure, but only if Grant builds it.

"It goes without saying that building a new home can be a very daunting process for most. The amount of organization and decisions to make on the design, let alone all the fittings etc almost brings the most diehard new home owner to their knees.

"Our design of the house was magic so Emi and I wanted to find a builder who could handle this project in stride and work along with us. The project was in Buderim, but we were living in Melbourne due to work commitments. We wanted a builder that was reliable and honest and we didn't want the hassles of problems that usually go along with building. We chose Grant McDonald Homes out of 10 builders due to his dynamic energy and eagerness. He was also very price competitive.
We were glad we chose Grant McDonald as during the whole building process I only came up to the Sunshine Coast only twice, once to kick off the project and the other time was to move into the house. We had an independent inspector who also sent us regular photos of each stage and praised Grant for his efforts.
We had built twice before so we had built up some experience, but the real difference we noted is that Grant McDonald paid real attention to detail, and he really listened and endeavoured to make sure that what you wanted, he built it! "On behalf of my wife Christine and our extended family ( seven of us ) I would like to both thank and congratulate Grant and his complete team for presenting us with a truly unique and spectular canal home at Minyama.
Grant has surrounded himself with a fantastic team of employees and contractors. All of the tradies who worked on our project achieved the highest standards. Their work ethics are highly reptuable and greatly appreciated. I saw guys pull things up to do again as 'THEY' weren't happy with the finish, things that weren't noticeable until pointed out. This pride in their finished product really delivered us something above and beyond expectations.
From the beginning with a great conceptual team and fantastic interior design consultant all the way through to the finishing touches, nothing was too much trouble and was achieved promptly. Grant delivered us a house of over 600 square meters which was far removed from a standard design due in part to the irregular shape of our land in under 9 months, we couldn't be happier.
From start to finish there were multiple changes made, sometimes innitiated by Grant himself or the design team, as things often change in the real world as a build takes shape. None of the many changes which we made appeared insurmountable or were too much trouble to accomodate.
I honestly feel Grant built our house as if it were his own, and the build quality speaks for itself. Our new house certainly stands out and everyone who comes through the house is blown away. We could not recommended Grant and his team highly enough to anyone who is after a HOME well above the house which many are expected to accept and the heartaches which follow."
